Good food, good variety, & friendly atmosphere Our waitress, Jennifer was excellent. Really liked their homemade clam chowder & fish. My husband had one of their daily specials which he enjoyed. Our first visit & will definitely visit again
Fine, Casual dining. Most towns have some sort of local hang out. The quality of food varies depending on if the focus is on drinks where the grub is all but an afterthought. I’ve been there, done that before. It’s nice to have a place that’s close to home where there is a lot of attention placed on the quality of the food. They also seem to take pride on their presentation; nice. I’ve been here a couple of times and have checked out a few of their app’s as well as their main courses. Everything I’ve tried thus far has been at least a little better than average and in some cases-beyond. A visiting relative of mine could not make up his mind whether or not he wanted burgers or seafood for dinner. I suggested both and so we came here to indulge. The spacious family style looking restaurant has ample parking and is right on Rt3A or Boston Road, about a mile and a half south of a nudie bar. Not that I go there, I just sleep better at night knowing there’s one in my town. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The attentiveness of the server was just shy of very good, we did have to wait just a tad for service as our meal progressed. We split a burger as an app and we each had ordered the seafood platter for entrees. The burger was cooked to order and was charred perfectly with a nice juicy texture. Nothing outstanding for burger enthusiasts but definitely satisfying the burger urge I get several times a week. The roll and toppings too were very good though I did take a little of the lettuce off as they were not stingy with the green stuff. The onion rings were very crispy and not greasy with an overall rating of average-good. I took a chance with the seafood platter here as my past experiences have made me very leery since so many places charge a fortune and give you little seafood and a lot of fries. This place did indeed offer a substantial amount of seafood, haddock pieces, shrimp, scallops and clams (a normal person might actually have some to take home) but I would have preferred one more piece of shrimp and a few less fries. The meal also included a few onion rings as an edible garnish. Everything on the plate was cooked perfectly. There was no visible grease to be found anywhere and even the fries after sitting underneath the seafood were crispy down to the last bite. The quality and freshness of the seafood was at least equal to any other place I’ve been to that wasn’t designated as a seafood restaurant. I have another review for a similar styled place in Lowell. I would rank their quality and value slightly higher than here but that place I find, is an exception. I would certainly come here again for more of the same but then again, the menu here has plenty to offer and is interesting enough to explore further in the future. They always seem to be busy here and I would expect them to be around for a while. So far, I’d say that this is the best pub grub in my local driving area. And yeah, I get around.
