Good food but not very accommodating if you have a dietary restriction. I can’t have dairy or garlic and the chef appeared flustered on what to prepare. I ended up with a beet salad that was fantastic. Boy I wish they had thought to suggest adding shrimp or fish to that. Great food but just a warning regarding food restrictions or allergies.
Phenominal! Ate with six people and got six different dishes that were equally delicious !! Such a gem and not badly priced .. owner is a great guy and so personable .. everything on the menu is thought out and perfected ! GREAT. GREAT. GREAT.
Unexpected Treat. We’re visiting BU and was looking for a place to eat at 6:30 on a Friday night. The first place we tried was booked for reservations, until 8:15, even though 70% of the tables were empty (I’ve never seen anything like it). We wandered until we happened across the Washington Square Tavern. Seated immediately (a line quickly formed behind us, no reservations accepted). Everything on the menu looked great. My 18yo daughter raved that the scallops were the best meal she ever had. I decided on the Veal Bratwurst special. It was fabulous. Great food, great service, great restaurant.
Excellent dining experience. The food and wine here are the best you will get in Brookline. It’s also a great spot to hang out and drink. Their cocktails are crafted with the good stuff. No generic sour mix here. They make a great Margarita.
The Silver. Of the 7 places to eat in Washington Square ( Do people actually eat food at Starbucks? yuk) Washington square tavern consistently has good food and great atmosphere. Its on the pricey side- its only fault – which is why I give it the silver compared to the Public House across the street
