The Real Deal. Lesters Roadside in Burlington, MA (Route 3A) is the real deal – it’s not Kansas City nor Memphis style – it’s dead-on Southern style, slow cooked, well smoked meats and dynamite side dishes. I favor the chopped barbecue beef, the smoked sausage, and the moist, if not terribly lean, brisket. The ribs are competently done, the Southern style rubs and sauces a treat, and the side dishes stand up well against the smoke – check out the collard greens, the pickles, and the corn bread. If you have room, the Key Lime square is a nice finish. Lot’s of iced tea – beer available – outdoor dining and plenty of free parking. For those of us in the Northeast, it’s a more than welcome addition to what used to be a paucity of good barbecue restaurants.
Finally, great BBQ. Ive been wanting to hit up Lesters Roadside BBQ for quite some time. I finally was able to stop in the other day. My only regret is that I waited so long.The food was awesome. I wanted to try a few dishes so I had a combo platter with pulled pork, ribs, and Texas brisket. Plus mashed sweat potatoes and dirty rice and beans. Everything was great. The pork was tender and juicy and the ribs were like they should be, fall off the bone good.The sauces available are good too. I also couldnt resist some desert. My key lime pie was delicious and my friends apple crisp was great. Both are made fresh in house.I had an opportunity to talk with the owner, Doug. Hes a great guy who really cares about his BBQ.There is not a lot of good BBQ in New England. I wish there were more Lesters around.
