The staff at the Asgard were so hospitable to our group of volunteers! We contacted them about hosting a One Brick Boston social event there on a Wednesday night, and they generously provided complimentary appetizers including nachos, a hummus plate, artichoke dip, and tater tots. The sweet potato fries are also tasty, and easy to eat with a drink in your other hand. If you’re there for dinner, go for the Irish entrees like Shepards Pie or the Bangers & Mash.On this particular Wednesday evening, there was a representative from Shipyard Brewering handing out free swag and tastes of their seasonal Smashed Blueberry ale which Asgard just got on tap that day. Their rotating beer selection is fantastic, and the bartenders will gladly give you a taste of what’s on draught if you’re undecided (CBC Amber Ale ftw).On Thursdays, live band karaoke is a different take on this (typically bland) bar singing activity. It can get loud, but it’s worth it to hear the impressive singers (and occasional drunk trainwreck) take the stage with a live band to back them up – or rescue them if needed.

The Shepherds’s Pie was delicious (made with ground beef and lamb, yum!) and our server kept the Irish Coffees coming (double yum!), I have no complaints. My husband ordered the corned beef hash and enjoyed his meal too!

Whiskey!. What happens is that you’re in Central Square with friends or on a date, and no one knows where to go because the options for getting a drink around there are weird. The place is large but not usually too loud, so you can duck in for a drink or two with a conversation and maybe some trivia or music. The food doesn’t really matter. They have a boatload of whiskey and a tidy little beer selection. I did eat there once, though, when a hangover was demanding I eat a Shepherd’s Pie. It was a little ghetto, but it worked. oversharielle.com

Asgard. Went there after a wedding with a group of people. The waiter was very nice but slow. We waited forever for them to clean off the table for us. The selection of beers on tap was very good, as were the bottled beers. The prices were reasonable. The food was typical bar food (we had spicy wings, teriyaki wings and fries with cheese sauce). The spicy wings were SPICY and the fries crunchy and fresh.Overall it was a good place.

To enjoy the food – drink first.. Clueless, pricey pub food, served in a pseudo-Irish atmosphere. Service is fine.

Simply dreadful and that’s before we saw the mice

Wish a little bit more Irish. The atmosphere and decor is decidely Irish. I wish the menu was a little bit more Irish to go along with the atmosphere. The menu is mostly bar food aimed at American’s who aren’t very adventurous, with a few traditional Irish meals added.
