Light, familiar fare. No surprises.. This charming and pretty cafe restaurant in the Kendall Hotel is very well suited for its role. You won’t find any surprises here and the service can be slightly disorganized as some other reviewers have said. But our meal last night was very nice, out on the sheltered patio. The cheese plate appetizer was presented in such a camera-ready way that I wish I had snapped a photo! Opting for the salami for additional fee was worth it, probably the best I’ve tasted in Boston. The menu is small, with several composed salads, a steak, and some other items but each seems to be executed with meticulous attention to detail. The kitchen is clearly quality-obsessed, if not daring.

Fine hotel restaurant. We’re staying at the Kendall Hotel and the Black Sheep is located in the lobby. We had dinner there tonight. We took the prix fixe menu. For $42, I had a big plate of cheeses (3 slabs of them!) and some cookies and raisins, one spinach salad, some scallops with risotto and broccoli, a slice of Boston cream pie and a coffee. Pretty good value for the amount of food that I got. And the food was tasty and fresh. Service was a disorganized at first (everybody got there at the same time it seems), but was very good after.
