Don’t miss this staple of Kendall square. Good food in a lovely atmosphere with a polished wait staff. Haven’t been there in a while. Forgot how good it is.

A disappointment. Went with a group an service was slow and food ended coming out cold. The restaurant didn’t care. Had potential but I’d recommend finding another option.
Cambridge cool. My husband and I walked around Kendall Square looking for a place and amidst the pubs is Blue Room. We didn’t wait too long before getting a nice table where we had a view of the chefs in action. I had the Escondido cocktail. Awesome. My husband had the Violets are Blue which I tried as well. Awesome. For appetizers, we had the wood grilled octopus and the garlic toast with serrano ham. I don’t like octopus but my husband loved it, and I liked the fingerling potatoes that came along with the app.For my entree, I had the grilled tuna. Trust the Blue Room with the wine pairings suggested with the meals.
Disappointing…. The outdoor seating was lovely, but the food was heavy and confused, the service was hyper-active and awkward, our drinks (a play on a whiskey smash) were completely watered down…the only really good thing I have to say about the blue room is that the bread and butter was delicious.
Stimulating cuisine but erratic kitchen.. Blue Room occupies a spacious cellar space of an old industrial building. The interior is a kind of warmish take on the industrial esthetic with an open kitchen and nicely spaced zinc-topped tables. Service is highly professional. The menu is small, but features a variety of interesting foods such as rabbit, and in-season seafood. They specialize in wood grilling. I had a spectacular pasta of the day with penne, smoked tomatoes! and maine shrimp. I also had the grilled octopus, which tasted good but the texture was too slimey. It was accompanied by fantastic baby potatoes. I like their experimental focus in food and the impeccable service. On subsequent visits, I have found the kitchen to be highly erratic, delivering perfect mussels, for example, alongside badly overcooked octopus. Their quality control is not adequate.
