Tasty Portuguese food, local Portuguese neighbors eating here. Heavy on the seafood and meat.
If you love seafood, you’ll love Casa Portugal!
Quite possibly the worst Portuguese food I have ever eaten. I m Portuguese and live in NJ in a predominantly Portuguese neighborhood, where fine food can be found in dozens of Portuguese restaurants the clientele is demanding and competition is fierce. Therefore I do consider myself to be knowledgeable about this type of food., Casa de Portugal wouldn’t last 5 minutes. LEt me begin with the soup. The caldo verde which is traditional collard green soup was absolutely tasteless, and had no olive oil, salt or chourico. For The appetizer we had the favas with Chourico. Awful, it was caned fava beans in a ketchup sauce with fake chourico …caned pork and beans are tastier. For dinner I ordered carne alentejana. This is supposed to be served piping hot in a clay pot, with clams and chunks of highly seasoned pork and potatoes. It was horrid. The meal came with 4 clams. Yes that’s right 4 measly little clams. The pork was tough and dry. By now, I couldn’t believe that case de Portugal was passing this off as fine portuguese food. For desert I ordered the Molotof, another failure, it was poor at best. Table service was just average. In short find somewhere else to eat. If I could give this place less than a one star I would.
Pure simple goodness. I go here every time I am in Boston. It is just good solid food with a nice uniqueness about it. Not every town gets to have a good Portugese restaurant; Boston, and in particular, East Cambridge, does. (in the photo please excuse the evidence of the diner’s sloppy eating habits….but the dish was wonderful. Also, that is a Portugese beer that was nice).
Yum. Classic Portuguese food. Codfish is delicious. Wish bread was more of the crusty Portuguese style.
Always good…. We have always had a wonderful time at Casa Portugal. We have been going for almost 30 years. Warm and inviting and always a wonderful meal.
