Good bar tenders and nice atmosphere but food is tasteless. Ordered salad, main dish, and sides. All good presentation but food is missing taste. Cambridge is tough to find a good restaurant. I was hopeful but does not cut it.
Went for brunch!. My Arlington family took us to Commonwealth when my family was down in Arlington for the holidays. A short drive through historic Harvard grounds brought us to the modern steel, wood, brick and concrete building. The market is fun; the pastries are so yummy; the decor includes Victorian scroll-backed sofas and 1940s-era enameled stoves. I had steak and poached eggs with hash browns. The steak was perfectly cooked medium and served with a salty brown sauce that was obviously made fresh. Such tender steak! The poached eggs were perfect, the potatoes crunchy. The best part was the corn bread appetizer. I liked it so much I talked the bakery cashier into selling me some to take back to Vermont with me (just as moist the next day). Every member of my family ordered something different off the Brunch menu (there were 7 of us) and all of us were very happy with our geneous, delicious meals. Thanks Chef Postal, we had a wonderful eating experience!
What happened to affordable!!!!!!!!. Well i walked in to this new restaurant/market and was told about a month ago that it was supposed be affordable!! well it’s not, i also seen the owner on kickstater in which he got donations for the restaurant and he also said that it was going to be affordable and again it’s not !! 6 eggs i believe cost $4.50 6 eggs at shaws .99, half a gallon of apple cider $6.00 at shaws $2.99, so i ask myself what is affordable. my friend had dinner at the commonwealth this evening he got chicken and 2 sides, total bill $ 85.00 !! again what is affordable, i’ll stick to my shaws and stop and shop!!!
