Fish made to seem fresh.. There is an old cook’s trick. When the seafood is not so fresh and starts to smell, soak it in baking soda. The treatment results in a fillet with a strange texture, and completely devoid of taste. However, you might dine on a good day – with luck, you’ll get something fresh and unusual, like sardines.
