Second Chance Still Bad. I went to the House of Chang when it first opened and the taste of the food really didn’t move me to return. I thought that I would give them another chance, since they were new. I ordered peking ravioli , pan fried and some honey barbeque boneless spare ribs. Both appertizers were such a disappointment. The spare ribs tasted like they had been dipped in water and hardly no honey taste. The pan fried ravioli was equally awful. They were fried on one side and the inside could have used additonal cooking. What really disappointed me is that I never heard of having a pineapple essence sauce to dip pork fried ravioli into. I took one bite of the ravioli and a few of the spare ribs and threw them both in the trash. You get me once, you got me twice not a third time for me.I wish them luck, but I won’t be eating there anymore.
New owners – old curse.. I had high hopes for this restaurant that replaced the decrepit, Lucky Garden. The interior is handsome wood paneling and subdued color panels and the staff is cordial. Unfortunately the food ranges from decent to disposal-ready dreck. Pork with black bean sauce had a decent mild flavor. Eggplant was tender and pretty, but tasted of old, heavy oil – not nice. Moo Shi was execrable, tasting of old cabbage and spoiled pieces of meat. Even the rice was dry and tough. Though abundant, the meat and vegetables were coarsely hacked up with what seemed to be a very dull knife. I had to throw most of the stuff out.
GO!!. I had high expectations of this newly opened restaurant. The owners previously owned a take-out restaurant in Lexington. My visit to this beautifully yet simple and tastefully decorated restaurant exceeded those expectation. The service was great, the restaurant immaculate. Crab rangoons are the best and their scallion pancakes are perfection. Their homemade, 23-ingredient ginger sauce was excellent. GO.
