Great atmosphere. Friendly bartenders and some really cool craft cocktails. The beet salad was as the best I have ever had. The balance of the yellow and regular beets with the oranges and lemon sauce really worked well. That’s for the .1% of the population that likes beets like I do. The grilled slow roasted brisket good, didn’t blow me away. Overall a very good experience.
Great Boston Vibe Once You Get Inside. The food was terrific. Even though is was very busy, our server didn’t rush us and I love the space. If it were in a 200 year old building and not the basement of a modern commercial structure it would be perfect.
Service was really fast for our large group which seemed like a good thing, but the rush showed in the quality of our food. My steak was chewy and i ordered it medium; a colleague specifically asked if his meal included nuts due to an allergy and upon finishing his meal he was told it did include nuts. After we were served, no one came to ask if I needed another wine or if everything was ok. It took over 10 minutes to receive change from my check. This was on a Thursday night.
Great food and service. We made reservations at Park for their second night open, and even though the exterior signs for Redline, the previous occupant of this space, are still up, the interior has been totally refit into a modern, comfortable, and sprawling warren of underground areas to lounge, drink, eat, and unwind. I loved the black leather couches in the reading area, dark wood paneling, fireplaces, and communal tables by the bar. Everything designed to make you feel immediately comfortable. We sat in a relatively quiet, private room far in the back by the fireplace and got down to the business of ordering drinks. Nice tightly written cocktail menu ranging from rum drinks, to bourbons and whiskeys, and even a vodka or two for old times sake. Excellent beer list. Rather than get an entree we went with an assortment of fun appetizers. The Toast Tasting was by far the star of the show, six little open-faced toasted sandwiches, bite-sized and intensely flavored. I particularly loved the fried quail egg with whole grain mustard and my partner liked the gravlax. In fact, everything we ordered was really tasty and well-executed with the exception of the Caesar Salad which looked dramatic (served with Toad in the Hole!) but didn’t have much flavor at all. Service was smooth and seamless — and the place filled up very quickly with loud students who haven’t learned to use their indoor voices yet, so not necessarily a romantic date destination, but still great fun for hanging out with colleagues after work.
