The other day I’ve ordered a rib dinner (pork) with sides of collard greens and candies yams. I was very disappointed after looking at the phantom’s reviews… I paid 15.00 dollars for my plate, my plate consisted of three ribs only… The collards wasn’t at all that tasty… I know cause I also make collard greens….the only thing that was ok was the candy yams……. Then the chicken tasted just like onions rings…. Time to change the oil…..first n last time eating here
A mixed bag.. I want to like Coast Cafe. The staff is very friendly in this take-out only soul food kitchen. About half the stuff I have had has been great, and the other half not-so-good. First, the chicken and cheese patties are great. Tender morsels of chicken and tangy cheddar in a empanada style pouch. Also great is the banana pudding, with fresh ripe bananas, good custard and topped with Nilla wafers. Not so good is the fried chicken. Though I was promised two pieces last time, including a breast, it came with two thighs only. The chicken had a hard crust that was overcooked, very dark brown and separating away from the meat and I couldn’t taste any seasoning except for pepper. It wasn’t terrible but not something I would get again. Mashed potato tasted a little off and green beans were tasteless. Cornbread is tiny and forgettable – a cupcake not a nice slice from a pan. Not sure I’ll go back, except maybe for some more patties.
