The food is always Fabulous!. I have eaten at this restaurant many times, and the food is always excellent. I just ate there on February 12 with my wife and a colleague from UMass Boston and his wife. My friend’s wife is Chinese, and she and her parents have eaten there before as well. I looked at another website to see if they have carry out, because my wife asked if we couldn’t bring some home once in a while after i finish teaching. I was frankly shocked at some of the negative reviews. My friend and I were meeting each others’ wives for the first time, and it was our first social engagement together. He suggested Chau Chow, and my response was that the food was excellent, but the restaurant is large and, because of that, the atmosphere is not very intimate. We went anyway, and I would give 5 stars in this review, because even tough the atmosphere isn’t the greatest, I was reminded about how fabulous the food is, and since we made our own atmosphere, the food was the important thing. I would say I have eaten there about 7 times, as it is only a mile from UMass Boston, and when a group would decide to go out for lunch or dinner, we would often go there. A friend of mine and I chose it for a celebration a couple of years ago when our situation at the university had changed, and we wanted to celebrate with friends. That friend’s husband is Chinese and they both are excellent cooks and almost always cook Asian food, and he loves the restaurant as well. The restaurant was not at all crowded on our recent visit (a Wednesday, about 7:30 pm) and a waitress came to our table, and while my friend was taking forever to order, asking about everything, and we were making fun of him because of that, the waitress was as cordial and helpful as she could be. We stayed, talking and eating until about 10 pm, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more attentive. I also had dim sum there a couple of times. One occasion was when my brother and his wife were stopping in Boston on a cruise they were on. I believe it was lunchtime on a weekend. I had never been there on a weekend, and the restaurant was crowded, and literally every table but ours was occupied by Asians. My brother and sister-in-law were delighted with the place, and I felt like a hero for bringing them there. Writing this, I am reminded again of how good the food is there, and I am getting hungry, and will make it a point to not wait so long before i go again, or at least take my wife’s hint, and bring home some carryout after I finish teaching.

Great Accesible Dim Sum. My favorite Dim Sum spot around Boston… Lots of available parking. The wait isn’t as long and crowded as the dim sum spots in chinatown. The food is great and there are lots of carts. With the large open room, it’s easy to get the attention of the wait staff. Authentic taste of chinatown without the crowds and wait.
