Birthday dinner at Esters. Last night we went to Esters for my birthday dinner. We walked through the newly renovated bar and dinning room. to the back patio which was just surprisingly inviting. that was private and beautiful with modern decor. Our table was on the upper tier; a special oasis. We started with several appetizers, calamari, mussel, the meatballs which was simple wonderful and the asparagus with the 3 minute egg. All of them were great. The calamari was fresh and tender. The mussels were so tastie with a great broth. needed more toasted bread to soak up the wonderful broth that comes with it. As far the main dishes. The steak frites was the hit of the table as several of the party ordered it. The pasta with clams I found was so fresh and juicy. The risotto with seasonal vegetables from there rooftop garden was to die for. talk about fresh you can’t get any better than this. The salmon was very good and fresh. The half chicken was moist and favor full a must try. simple put this place is a must try. wonderful atmosphere for drinks after work or a causal night out on the town. Easy to find and the garden to table concept is great to see and find in this city.
Dont bother. Went here last Friday evening with work friends. We were to have drinks and appetizers. There were 8 of us. The service was awful, terrible waiter. He would not ask if anyone else at the table wanted a drink, causing him to get one at a time. Bar service slow. The appetizers were expensive and very small portions.. The waiter did not tell us there would only be 3 meatballs in the order??? For a piece of syrian bread and guacamole it was 12 dollars.. We paid our expensive bill and went elsewhere for a pizza!!
We were looking forward to check this new restaurant close to home. We were welcomed very warmly by manager and waitress. They took half of the way too loud and too large TVs that were in the former Ledge so atmosphere is much more relaxing. As far as the food we had the salmon which was good according to partner . I had the steak frites . Dish was cold, beef dry with not enough of the butter on top which made it worse. Fries could have been good if hot. Our portion were very small. Really hate to pay close to 100 dollars, 2 drinks, 2 dishes and still be hungry when leaving a restaurant. To be noted that or would have help to have a dish of bread on the table. Of you are going to offer dish that small, at least give people bread ! Looks like the restaurant is family friendly with cheap kids menu. Maybe a place to come with your kids and have a small plate and a drink.
