Good service!. My surf and turf entree arrived. Apparently the grill cook didn’t understand ‘medium rare’. The meat arrived with a light grill marked sear on both sides but a center refrigerated cold. The wait staff were lovely and replaced the filet with an appropriately cooked one. The meal was delicious. I especially loved the goat cheese/roasted beet salad! I know I’ll return for another great meal

Watermelon Steak! A slice…. Watermelon Steak!A slice of marinated grilled watermelon served hot. It looks like high grade sushi and tastes like a smokey steak with a sweet finish. I’ve never tasted anything like it! A must try.Great bar as well. ‘The Last Word’ and ‘Rye Not’ are excellent.

Major Improvement. These last few months have brought big changes to Ecco, one of the few upscale dining options in East Boston. The menu has been totally rewritten and execution is consistently excellent across repeated visits. Obviously it is paying off because the place is busy all the time. The cuisine can best be described as ‘Modern American’, with inventive dishes like Yuca Gnocchi, tender and light gnocchi pasta made from yuca (cassava) flour, playful versions of neighborhood standards like the Taco Trio, and an outstanding salumi board. The oysters were excellent, chilled perfectly, freshly shucked and served with an addictive ginger mignonette. Another favorite is the roasted beet salad with goat cheese and a light lemon vinaigrette.
