Awesome lunch. A coworker and I had lunch at El Paisa and it was great. She had the paella, and reported that the shrimp were big and the calamari tender. The dish came with salad and fried (green?) plantain.I had the montaero plate: a fried egg on top of white rice, surrounded by (clockwise) beans, fried sweet plantain, and a thin pan-fried steak. On top was a long piece of fried pork rind– not the kind that comes in a bag, but a thick, succulent length of skin with layers of fat and meat that melted in my mouth.Total price, including tip: $36. I don’t get to East Boston often, but this place will draw me there more often, I hope!
Great find. Don’t remember when I had such hot food that was full of flavor. Such a great deal. Don’t judge the outside, this is a real gem.
Medellin-style Colombian cuisine.. El Paisa restaurant is named for the people of the mountainous central of Colombia. The cuisine is divided between typical dishes such as Platos Montaneros (A small steak, sweet plantain, big red beans cooked in a light tomato sauce, arepa, rice and the thickly sliced, toothed bacon pieces they call chicharonnes. The food, like every other Colombian Restaurant I have been to is very simple and homey and filling, but only minimally seasoned with salt and pepper. The restaurant is very attractive, with warm colors, Colombian art and a terra cotta fireplace. Service is fast and unobtrusive. Value is excellent.
We visited el paisa last weekend.we enjoyed the hospitally and food was perfect
Very clean restaurant, great food. Was greeted by the owner/ chef. Very pleasant gentlemen. Will visit them next time I am in town.
Sunday Brunch. The Sunday brunch is great. It is an open buffet for just $10. Delicious, all the Colombian breakfast food, and the traditional international breakfast.
