Authentic Vietnamese. Yet another Eastie gem, this unpretentious place has one of the largest and most varied Vietnamese menus I’ve ever seen. We started with a pot of iced tea and the duck salad with chilis, lemongrass and lime which was fresh, bright and delicious. The small order was easily enough for two to share as a generous appetizer. Our main courses were the pad thai (not authentic Vietnamese, I know, but their interpretation was so light and refreshing!) and we also got the chicken with mango. This was a rice dish and had big chunks of sweet cooked mango, grilled chicken, and perfectly crisp veggies. The waitress suggested a jackfruit smoothie and a canteloupe smoothie — both were excellent, especially since it was 96 degrees today. Total bill for all this was under $35.

Consistently Pretty Good. I’ve never been to an upscale Vietnamese Restaurant. I’d love to go some time. Every place I’ve been has tasted a lot like what Saigon Hut has to offer. Yum. They should be here any minute!

Great food, very affordable. Not much ambiance but it doesn’t detract from the variety on the menu.
