Terrific Pupupas. I’ve sampled pupusas, those traditional Salvadoran stuffed thick corn tortillas, at a number of different East Boston restaurants and I’m pretty sure these are the best – moist and slightly sweet, packed with flavor and quite fresh. The ones we got last night were loroco (a flower bud) and zucchini and were served with tart curtido, which is a type of cole slaw. For my main course, I chose the chili rellenos which was okay but didn’t really stand out. The atmosphere is quite nice, with pretty yellow walls and dramatic oil paintings — I was a little overwhelmed by the jukebox blasting Latino music at full volume during our meal, rendering conversation impossible, but once it stopped we were okay. Prices are very good, especially their nightly specials like the torta (sandwiches) for $5.
I went in to the place and, got a menu and, it was not even in English and, I had remembered a friend of mine had bought what was called:Pupusas and, well it was not bought in here but, I got 2 of them and, I came home & I sampled the sauce it had & wow…HOT and, I mean very Hot….and, then I put the Pupusas in a plate & put the item in the plastic bag that looks like cole slaw & I took a tiny taste and, it WAS SO HOT…It was so difficult for me as I have a hiatael hernia & I was so glad I recalled I had crackers as, I had to eat a whole lot to calm the Hot of the meal down and, I sure will NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN……
