Came here for drinks and appetizers after a show at the theater. Service was great, atmosphere was fun, food tasted good and the drinks were spot on! Very comfortable place to sit back, relax, laugh and enjoy your cocktails with friends!

Fabulous 30th Event. Barlow’s provided the perfect venue for a 30th celebration. The atmosphere and decor, the appetizers and platters, the group that was entertaining, and of course the ‘spirits’ all lent to a successful night. Kudos to Jenna and Patrick for attending to detail and providing valuable suggestions. The evening was a tremendous success!

Yummy Yummy. Truly a delightful find in the Fort Points Channel section of Southie. This dramatic industrial space, with a generous and leafy outdoor dining area offers an interesting take on American comfort foods, all freshly prepared from genuine ingredients but also readily accessible to the typical suburbanite accustomed to pre-formed vacupak fare. I started with an Old Fashioned, which had an odd, gingery aftertaste and decided to try a half-dozen oysters as my starter. Expertly shucked and perfectly chilled and fresh, this was the ideal low carb appetizer on a warm summer night. I followed this with the special of the night, seared rare tuna on a bed of steamed asian vegetables and spicy peanut sauce. The portion was large and the tuna was truly rare, blood red in the center as it should be, perfectly seared to 1/8 inch on each side. Rich and meaty and delicious. Service was a little distant, not particularly warm, but I’d still come back in a heartbeat since the overall vibe was so upbeat and energetic.

Nice Surprise!. My husband and I decided to check out Barlow’s last FRI night for dinner. (Our regular haunt is closed due to flooding.) What a nice surprise! The food was wonderful, the decor is modern and ecclectic but still manages to feel warm and welcoming (important at 10 degrees F). We enjoyed the roast chicken (the accompanying risotto was out-of-this-world) and the bacon wrapped meatloaf with sauted spinach and fresh-mashed potatoes. Residents of the Seaport District, it’s close to home. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is great. It’s very classy with nice wood furniture, yet contemporary with exposed ductwork and high ceilings. The food was very fresh – I had seafood and vegetables. Everything had plenty of flavor I would definitely go back.
