This is now called 89 Broad Street located inside the Hilton. Contemporary, upscale feel. Breakfast buffet was fresh and fairly good and cost $22. Menu prices for lunch and dinner were on the high end. Convenient if you’re staying in the hotel but good choices are within walking distance.

Must try!!!. We came in on Friday for after works drinks and snacks, we had a few of the flatbreads, the gallop burger, the lobster app and a few too many moscow mule cocktails!! The food and service were great…we will 100% be back!!

Bad Experience. We had reservations for a Saturday night dinner (made the Wednesday prior) and the resturant called at 11:00am day of to inform us that they book a private dinner for that night. Completely ruined our plans and unprofessoinal. It felt like a Seinfeld episode (so you take reservations but don’t know how to keep them).Anyway if you like having your plans ruined day of you may enjoy Nix Mate. It’s not the place for these Boston locals though.

Remarkable Change. To say that Caliterra, the predecessor restaurant occupying this space at the Hilton Hotel, was disappointing would be understatement of the decade. It was truly one of most awful restaurants in Boston, which is what makes this new Nix’s Mate all the more remarkable. Spacious and comfortable, with modern rustic New England design and attentive staff serving wonderful, playful, and above all delicious food at an excellent price point, this could easily become my favorite Financial District hotspot. We started at the bar with a spicy and cooling Moscow Mule then took our quiet window table. On a Friday night, the noise level was buzzing but not deafening like so many other places. We had no choice but to get the much discussed Lobster Caramel, and it was an astonishing dish – complex, layered, with sweet briny lobster and a touch of caramel and chili spice. Other starters included the Polpete Vongole, tiny meatballs in a red clam sauce, along with the crispy duck confit — perfectly crisped papery skin thru which all trace of fat had been roasted out. Main courses were much more conventional but still delicious – my surf and turf would have been at home in a dozen other restaurants, and my partner’s Steak Frites was a perfect execution of a highly traditional dish. From beginning to end, service was on point, and attentive without hovering. Price for all this, including two more cocktails, and some wine, was $130 which was impressive!
