The pho was nice and the clay pot rice was ok but I’m from Sydney where there is second best pho in the world 😛 The pancake was a bit of a miss though
Pretty good. I came here with a few friends from Babson and a high school friend visiting for college stuff. We came here instead of Pho Pasteur for an unknown reason, and it was pretty good. I ordered the Regular/Large Pho Tai Nam GauNoodle soup which had eye round steak, flank and fatty flank. The bowl was HUGE and the extra large that my friends ordered were even more generous. The broth was rich with the meat flavor and the meat was sliced thing and perfectly cooked by the broth. The noodles were a good texture, but the slightest bit of overcooked. Adding some raw bean sprouts and basil is the perfect addition. Also, the black tea boba tea was surprisingly decent since that drink is pretty hit or miss for a lot of places that don’t specialize in drinks. One of my friends actually ordered a second large/regular bowl because it was that good for him. Also, the prices are excellent. The Extra large bowl was $7.75. In addition to the pho, there a quite a number of other options for anyone who isn’t feeling the soup action. Overall, this place was quite good to be an international franchise.
If your an American looking to have a meal in Chinatown, this place is great. Other places there seemed overwhelming, this place is inviting and has a great menu that u can understand. Sweet and sour chicken was great!
Don’t Go for the Pho. I must agree with previous reviewers that the pho here is perhaps not as good as it could be — nowadays there are so many fantastic and generous pho options in Chinatown and beyond, we are spoiled for choice. I happen to like a larger portion size and much stronger use of star anise and cinnamon in the broth. However, Pho Hoa has some impressive non-pho Vietnamese menu items (folks in Vietnam do eat something besides noodle soup). In particular, their fantastic 7 course prix-fixe dinner for two is my personal favorite. Dish after delicious dish is delivered to your table, all manner of creative and adventurous Vietnamese delicacies, chosen especially for you by the chef. I can’t recall the exact price, but it was in the neighborhood of $29 for dinner for two! Service is highly variable – sometimes the young male waiters are more interested in gossiping with each other than actually serving food or taking orders. Making polite eye contact will greatly help speed things along. Being rude or pushy will not improve your dining experience.
Nothing special. (review dated 1/08):pros: kiddie size pho for very small stomach.cons: pho pasteur does have better pho. here it’s is a bit overcooked and choppy.service… have yet to be satisfied. sometimes waiter doesn’t come back when you need them to, sometimes they don’t know what you’re talking about. one time we waited 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and still got none as we were almost finished w/our meal, ended up getting it to go and they didn’t seem to be apologetic. that’s c-town style i guess, but doesn’t make it any less intolerable.:)25 Jan, 2010Needs improvement.
