Disappointment. Wasn’t the best sushi I’ve had. Lucky me, my brother is quite the sushi chef. With all the flavors and spices I’ve experienced over the years with sushi making and my love of Bostonian eateries, I was really excited to flavor the samples at Sakurabana – but I left with disappointment. The soft shell crab was quite salty. More salty than it should have been. We also ordered the Halloween roll, but there was no flavor of the sweet potato tempura and there was too much of a fishy taste (clear sign of compromised sushi). The rice was well cooked, the rolls were quite larger than we expected, not sliced well though. The New England roll was the best, but even that was not the best I’ve had. Being a big big big fan of lobster, it seemed a bit on the lacking side. THere was no flavor of lobster. Overall, I was expecting much more.
Very good Sushi for reasonably price. Friday Dinner at this restaurant was pretty quite. I ordered Suhi Expert and my husband ordered Sushi/Sashimi Combo. Our Sushi and Sashimi were fresh and more than we could eat. We were disappointed that they did not have Toro or Spicy Cod Roe. We agreed with the previous reviews of this restaurant.
Average Sushi. They get good marks for being one of the only sushi choices in the Financial District, and the sushi, sashimi, and rolls are of decent quality and reasonably priced for this neighborhood. The maki combination special is 2 rolls, soup, and salad for $11. Miso soup is quite bland as another reviewer has said, and the salad is the usual clumpy orange ginger dressing on frisee lettuce. It can get very busy and also loud during the lunch rush with lots of business-types shouting at each other. Fortunately the staff is pretty quick, so you can almost always get served in time to return to your desk.I wouldn’t necessarily make a special trip to this place but it is a rare convenient sushi joint for this particular area of the city.
Went there on our daughter-in-law’s suggestion. So glad we did. Not fancy but excellent sushi and various sushi rolls. Pork dumplings as appetizer very tasty. Will definitely be going back.
Bad service, bad food. Went there for lunch today.the miso soup was flavorless; and they offered me salad instead; but my meal already came with salad! so I got two salads; which I didn’t want.they did offer me vegetarian gyoza; but they were steamed not fried so also not very good.the salmon teriyaki was in a broth, and I had to ask for a spoon for the broth.additionally, I asked for brown rice; and they changed $2 extra for it! they were nice and took it off my bill this one time, but then again I’m not going back.if you’re hungry for japanese; go to wagamama
