Excellent Space. With two bars, a lounge, a formal dining room, and beautiful wraparound outdoor dining area, this attractive and grown-up spot is a welcome break from some of the generic Seamus O’Shannagins type places that formerly clustered around the Financial District. Definitely aimed at a slightly dressier post-work crowd and serving craft cocktails, beers, and a nicely curated wine list which complements their terrific meze or small plates — available till 1am! I got a nicely balanced Sazerac, with the rough edges of the rye whiskey smoothed out in a glass rinsed with Absinthe, and we shared an addictive duck confit pizza while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Once seated, we decided to share a couple apps. The black truffle mac & cheese was hot and creamy with tiny flecks of real truffle dotted throughout, contributing their complex earthiness, and the tuna sashimi had an unusual heat from jalapeno which lingered more than the usual wasabi. I thoroughly enjoyed my indulgent main course, the lamb osso bucco but it was so large I could barely make a dent! The four pieces of luscious lamb shank served on a bed of some of the best risotto I’ve had a while. Only three choices for dessert, but all made in house and with obvious passion. Our guest loved her molten chocolate cake, here rendered closer to a souffle and intensely rich and chocolatey. Service throughout our visit, from the bar to the dining room, was friendly, warm, and quite attentive. There were only two things I would change for our next visit. First, the front bar is way too noisy for our preference, and I wish we had started in the second (much quieter) bar. And also my partner’s bolognese was done with an unconventional cream sauce more like an alfredo than the rich ragu he was expecting.

Drinks and appetizers. We didn’t dine at the Vintage Lounge but we did really enjoy the drinks and appetizers. Bombay Martini’s with Bleu Cheese stuffed olives was crisp and ice cold. The Kobe beef sliders were top notch and the short rib sliders were melt in your mouth good. Really comfy worn leather chairs, nice ambient music, and excellent service – just what I was needing. i’ll be back this next trip to Boston.
