I recently visited from out of town and was looking for some good local beer. The beer and the food hit the spot, but it didn’t make up for the bad service and nasty bathroom. I can’t see myself trying this again.
Triple threat with one flaw. A must stop for beer lovers and people looking Good night out! Amazing beer (must try seasonal beers!), good atmosphere and great food. the only downfall is it takes a while to get served, its not the end of the world because your enjoying the great beer, but regardless the waiter seems like hes always tight on time. we had the artichoke dip which was decent . i had the buffalo mac n cheese, it was really good, you can taste the chicken smokeyness.burger above average and the clam chouder is up to par.
Not the fastest service. Buffalo chicken pizza is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.
Was a little empty when I visited on a Sunday night. Service was adequate if not overly friendly. I had the veggie patty on the steakhouse burger with steak fries and John Harvard Pale Ale, all of which were delicious. A few fellow diners had the beer sampler, which is cheap and yummy and a great way to sample different beers. A fun spot to enjoy a beer and some food with friends.
Nice place and great atmosphere. Service was average but the food was great. We ordered figure food and we had no complaints. I will go back
Excellent…our favorite local pub burgers are juicy and delicious, salads are big and filling, love the house brew fresh and clean tap lines… Just wish they had the harvest spice year round. Thumbs up for consistent yum and reasonable prices.
We went to the Framingham location. My wife started out with a coffee, which was very good. The restaurant is also a live brewery, so I had to try the five-beer sampler. Unfortunately for me that turned out to be a mixed bag. Two of them were pale ales – I don’t like pale ales so it would be unfair fault them for that. There was also an amber ale and a dark ale. Those were good, but a bit weak. The clear winner was the Kolch – hearty, not bitter, and with a good aftertaste. For the entree, my wife had the crab-stuffed tilapia. It was very good. The portion was reasonable, and the breading just right. I had the Caprese pizza – it was fantastic. The crust is made with grain left over from the beer brewing process. Imagine a cross between Italian thin-crust and Indian naan. Add olive oil (a little too much IMO), then top it with cheese, tomato slices, pesto, and mixed salad greens. I confined it with the waiter…this pizza is vegetarian-friendly. No…I’m not one. Yet it’s nice to know that more of my friends will be able to eat here. Toward the end of the meal, the friendly waiter offered me a free sample of another house-brewed beer. This one was made with cinnamon and nutmeg…they even put a sugar-and-cinnamon ring around the glass. This was a good brew on a cold night. Finally…DESSERT. We shared a banana-rum pudding. The combination of banana pudding, banana slices, rum, fresh whipped cream, and a couple of cherries was the best I’ve had. The waiter must have told the manager that it was our first visit, because she showed up at our table and asked how the meal was. We told her that both the meal and service were excellent. A few words about the service…the waiter was friendly and handled our questions and requests eagerly. The manager stopping by was a nice touch. I’ve read several other reviews which complained about so-so service and food – this was not our experience at all. We will be visiting John Harvard’s again.
