I’m not going to lie. This goes down as one of the top 3 meals I’ve had in my entire life. Coming from a major foodie who’s eaten at some of the top restaurants in the world, it means something! Tonight, I dined here with my mom and sisters. The atmosphere is great, dark and quiet inside with a beautiful view of the harbor. This restaurant is tucked away and makes you feel as though you are separate from the rest of the island! The wine list is great and I found to to be, overall, well priced. Following the recommendation of a Brazilian server we had the night before, we ordered the cheese plate (it’s on the dessert menu) as an appetizer along with the oysters. OH MY GOSH. HOLY OYSTERS AND CHEESE!!!!! The oysters come with a lemon ice on top that makes for the brightest and most refreshing oyster tray I’ve ever had! And the cheeses were amazing! I ordered the clambake and split it with my mother. As soon as I took my first bite, I regretted splitting it. The blend of tastes, from the buttered lobster and crab to the Spanish chorizo and the onion, this meal was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. I was able to taste my sisters’ dishes as well. One ordered the chicken under a brick and the other ordered the seasonal fish (which was Hake). Both were absolutely amazing in their own rights. For dessert, we had the galette and the citrus mousse. I couldn’t eat the galette because it’s a pastry with gluten, but my family RAVED over it! I did, however, eat the mousse (I just didn’t eat the crumble at the bottom) and I have to say it was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! The better-than-cheesecake-like dessert is topped with condensed watermelon and honeydew. WHO KNEW THEY WERE SO GOOD? It was positively delightful! The service was great! A little slow, but our waitress was precious! She knew her stuff, too, which was awesome! I also noted that every single person that worked there was beautiful… I mean, I didn’t need dessert because the men serving me were enough eye candy!! I know it’s weird to notice, but it’s true!!! If you’re in Nantucket, you have to try this restaurant! I’m afraid that none of our meals will be comparable!!!My Favorites:The OystersThe Dessert Cheese Plate (order as an appetizer) (*If you’re GF, they’ll bring veggies for you to eat your cheese with)The Clambake (JUST ORDER IT, OKAY?)The Citrus Mousse Dessert (*For GF, stay away from the crumble on the bottom)**Also, they had a Chocolate Pot de Crme that looked amazing as a GF option!! thehisfor.com
Try the swr clambake. Once our waitress realized that we still didn’t order drinks (when she was about to take our dinner order), everything was great. Their signature clam bake (a 1.5lb ‘lazy lobster’ over sweet corn puree, with little necks, sliced chorizo and fingerling chips) was pricey, but WELL worth it. Great wine to match, and a cheese plate to finish that was excellent, though could have been slightly more generous.
Awesome!!!
