We had spent the morning at the New Bedford Whaling Museum near by and saw the Ale House from their observation deck so we decided to stop in for a little liquid refreshment and ordered calamari & chowda. Both were excellent. The lobster rolls were ok and our kids ordered fish tacos that they barely touched. I took the fish tacos to go & actually enjoyed them myself for dinner. Great service and tasty selection of beers. I had a Coffeehouse porter and split a Lagunitas Equinox with my friend. heydelhiblog.wordpress.com
Beer + Wings. I’ve had wings all over the country but these are some of the best that I have ever tasted. Crispy-crunchy skin with plenty of meat underneath and a moderately amount of spice in their rich Thai Peanut sauce. We also loved the stuffed clams (stuffies) with tons of real clam meat and genuine Portuguese chorico, just needs a splash of hot sauce right before you dig in. This place has an impressive selection of beers on tap and since so many beer fans go there, the taps are super clean with no sour after taste even on the most obscure artisan brands. Casual atmosphere and surprisingly not too noisy even at night. Highly recommended.
Great, great beer list. This place has the best beer list in the area. Tons of microbrews that are local and national, plus some excellent imports. The food is pub food, but is really well done (especially the fries with all sorts of flavorful dustings). When they have a band playing, it gets a bit too loud if you actually want to converse with whomever you’re with, but otherwise, the place is a real favorite of ours.
This place is a fantastic find if you’re in the down town NB area it’s a must. 38 beers on tap! And great food to boot. The only problem is parking, if you see a spot on the way snag it.
Extensive and interesting beer selection, and you must try their wings!
Lobster roll, yum rocks.
