Take a seat in a North End Kitchen. I get to Carmen three to four times a year now and it’s an enjoyable experience every time. The restaruant is small but very warm and exciting (if you’re a food enthusiast). With the cold small plates toward the front of the restaraunt and the kitchen right behind you, the feeling that you are sitting in a kitchen waiting to be served comes to mind. Its an amazing feeling especially knowing how great the food is here. I highly reccomend the bolognese or the pork chop (a favorite of my sister). This restaurant is a great experience if you are looking for a quaint place with some creative italian dishes. You won’t be dissapointed.
All meals were good in north end but Carmen was our favorite. Lucia was awesome and led us toward a great wine and great meals. The haddock was amazing, the braided short rib ravioli was great and the atmosphere fantastic. Lucia makes this restaurant successful and makes sure her customers are happy
Excellent everything!
Food was excellent! Comparable to some exceptional restaurants in Italy. Well worth the money. The restaurant is quite small with dim lighting, which creates a very romantic feel. I would definitely recommend making reservations. Serving staff was friendly and attentive. The only down side: we visited on a hot evening and they don’t have air conditioning.
Not great, very cold. This is a very small restaurant. If you are prone to being cold, do not go there on a chilly night, as you will feel a cold draft every time the door is opened. Sometimes the wait staff would keep it open. Our reservation was on the early side, and halfway through our meal it became apparent that they were expecting a large group, and trying to get us out as quickly as possible. We had planned a nice meal but we were out within about an hour and fifteen minutes. However, since I was frozen, I was happy to get out of there.By 730 many people were waiting outside in the cold for their tables. The food is not special, but the prices are not very high either.
We called ahead for reservation and told 6:00 a table would be ready. We were ahead of schedule by 15 min. And the hostess said our table wouldbe at the wine bar. Not the welcome we thought we were expecting. We have enjoyed a lovely dinner here before and never a problem. We did see empty tables in the restaurant and didn’t understand why they were empty for even ten minutes! Not much seating in the restaurant and tables should never be empty for 10 min. Sorry Carmen’s we ate around the corner Nico’s was excellent!
Delicious. Great place to go to split a scrumptious arugula salad and yummy entree with someone. May seem pricey, but it’s a TON of food.
