Bob buoniconti. Overall outstanding. The service was impeccable, courteous and not stuffy. Prices for the wine was @the very high end. Please Don ‘t take advantage of your customers. We are all not on corporate expense accounts.
One of the Best. Hard to imagine anyone not loving this warm and romantic restaurant spread out on multiple levels of a gracious 19th century townhouse in the North End. Ideal for couples or groups of friends, perhaps not the best choice for children. The menu changes frequently depending on availability of the best ingredients, but one of their mainstays is the Rabbit Taglitelle, silky wide pasta noodles with rich and tender rabbit meat. My spouse loves their Pasta Bolognese and claims it is likely the best in the city. Prices are quite high. Good idea to start your evening in the cozy bar on the 2nd floor. Being November, I was pleased to see the rare white truffle being offered, shaved over beef carpaccio. Portions are modest, so feel free to order appetizers as well as main courses.
Easily makes my top 10 best meals list. The rabbit pasta was incredible, and the scallop appetizer was the best scallop dish I’ve ever eaten
What an amazing place! Excellent service and the recommendation by the waiter for the Italian red wine, PietradOnice 2005 was delicious! My lamb was fabulous too. The veal was also a great selection!
Romantic Italian!. Great spot, fine and good food…and my favorite…Panna Cotta!
Beautiful Mamma Maria. We dined at Mamma Maria’s for a birthday celebration during a snow-less March Saturday. Everyone was out in the North End.Mamma Maria’s is a beautiful restaurant inside with excellent service. The atmosphere is not loud and very comfortable. We dined on antipasti of scallops, oysters, and mozzarella and principali of duck, beef, halibut, and pasta Bolognese. Each plate was licked clean. Our waiter was exceptional and very knowledgeable. He brought out a four-plate dessert special for our birthday guest that also licked clean. We highly recommend this restaurant and a walk down Hanover Street for pastries and espresso afterwards. Enjoy.
Out for dinner with out-of-town work colleagues, we were originally headed to Giacomo’s. Seeing there were more people waiting outside than eating inside, and since a few of us were pretty beat, we needed a good alternative. That’s when I remembered Mamma Maria’s just a block away.Despite arriving with five people and without a reservation, the host was quickly able to accommodate us on the second floor. The room had a classic charm to it that put us at ease.My fellow diners commented on how good the food was, and I had to concur. The suggested wine was excellent as well. Our server was professional and warm throughout our meal, and when he forgot one drink, he apologized sincerely, brought it out 30 seconds later, and didn’t charge us for it (I checked). On this evening, Mamma Maria provided us with a memorable dining experience, and I was able to walk into work the next day with my food credibility restored (but that’s a different story).
