Went to Maurizios in north end of Boston Saturday feb 23rd for a relaxing dinner with friends. We were in town for a conference and had seen some grey reviews about Maurizios so we decided to try it out…BIG mistake. Originally we had planned for a party of 16 but several friends had to cancel so we were only a party of 11, which obviously irritated the owner. When we arrived there were some obvious comments about the decrease in number. We were the only party in the restaurant but were seated downstairs which is like eating in a cool dark dungeon that happens to have a wine rack. Several members of our group had prepurchased a groupon deal which equated to a face value of $60. The owner was adamant that she would not honor the groupon since we were in a group. One of my friends went to talk with the owner in hopes of at least getting the face value of the coupon since they had already purchased it. The owner agreed to the face value and my friend returned to sit with us in the dungeon. Two minutes later the owner rushed down to our table and stated that although she said she was going to honor it she no longer would. She then went on a rant for at least five minutes about how the restaurant doesn’t receive any money from groupon and everything else that was her problem, that she ha canceled another group of 8 to accommodate us (meanwhile we were the ONLY ones in the restaurant and there was room to accommodate more ). Her rant made our whole table so extremely uncomfortable I’ve never felt so weird for being the customer. The owner was lacking business 101 skills and offered that she hoped we could have a nice dinner but if we want to leave we can. We decided as a group it was in our best interest to find a business that actually appreciated customers and we promptly left to go to a place within walking distance that was a million times classier and customer focused the Maurizios . Who needs drama with their dinner? No thank you.

I love this restaurant.. I ate here the night of the Celtics victory over the Lakers to win 17. I had the best meal ever. I had a halibut that was cooked to perfection and spiced perfectly. The green beans were seasoned and grilled beautifully. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
