We got there around 6pm on a Friday night. We waited for about 15 mins outside. We were seated at a four-seater table with another couple right by the kitchen. This is a very small restaurants that probably only fit 15-20 people. We ordered the black pasta with ground squid and scallop linguini. Both dishes were very flavorful! We werent too hungry when we got there so well definitely come back to try some appetizers.
We have visited Boston several times over the last few years. We make sure we make it to The Daily Catch at least once during each Visit. The Daily catch never disappoints. Everything is so fresh and good. The best calamari you will ever have!! We have only been to the North End location. It’s cozy with an amazing aroma. First come first serve.. Don’t be turned away by the long line and wait. It’s worth it.
Wow! Had to stand in line for about 30 minutes but it was totally worth the wait. We sat down with a couple from France (on their 3rd visit) in this tiny restaurant, it only seats 20, and ordered the fried calamari. Best ever! I had the scallops and linguine in white and my wife had the black pasta with oil and garlic. Some of the best pasta I have ever eaten.
Great food! Brought my family from TX to eat here. They said it was the freshest seafood they ever ate. The place is very small. Only one chef but we had our food out in no time. They serve you in the pans that it is cooked in. Pricey though. Only ordered a plate for my Mom, bro and My sis and I shared a plate with a side of broccoli for Mom. Plus a ginger ale. H2O for everyone. Cost $80. I wouldn’t hit this place up often due to cost but it was very good. Visited June 7, 2013.
Authentic?. Daily Catch has a local reputation for good fresh italian – in the heart of the North End ( The boston italian center of the universe) I’ve past by Daily Catch on the north End several times and refused to wait in the long lines for a table in this tiny establishment. Recently though, there was no line AND an available table – so I stepped in and took a seat. I ordered the Calamari. It was prepared well, but came with no red sauce and had no peppers as I expected. I also got the small order of the Black pasta that was said to be hand made. it was perfectly done with just the proper amount of bite to the pasta. Here is where I seemed to feel a real disconnect with this place – it’s the idea of this being authentic italian Cuisine. At Daily Catch you are basically sitting in the kitchen – so you cannot help but watch the chef prepare your dinner. This night, the chef was a late 50’s asian man speaking in chinese to the other worker in the kitchen who was also chinese. ( Photo ). Please don;t hear this as racist – but there feels like a disconnect when you travel to the north end for authentic italian food, only to have someone from Asia prepare your meal. The food was actually good – but all of us in our party really felt let down a bit – like we had seen the man behind the curtain, and the truth was revealed.
A winner!. This was my second visit to the Daily Catch and cannot recommend it enough! Great food, fast friendly service and fantastic atmosphere!
A must when, in Boston shrimp scampi, to die for. But very very small , you might have to wait in line not FUN.
