Very very hungry for hungry ghost. How they don’t have 110% on here is baffling. what they have produced in their small operation for the last few years is impressive, and it’s no wonder they’ve been recognized by the james beard foundation for it. our favorites, the rosemary loaf and the olive fougasse, are literally the best bread we’ve had before or since. if we could mail order weekly from them, we would.
Excellent breads and savories.. Hungry ghost bakery occupies a single large room. There, in a perpetual haze of smoke and flour toils a baker. In a corner near the door is a small display of breads, savories and pastries. Their breads are wonderful – crusty, flavorful yet airy. They are made with unusual grains like kamut and spelt, and they source local grains when possible. Their savories are also very good. They are weakest with sweet goods.
