Obvious spot to stop and grab some ice cream (or candy.) No surprise that there is almost always a line, but once we make it to the counter we have always received polite and upbeat service. Have to figure that in itself is quite a feat by the young employees – keep their calm/cool and smiles in tact! My last visit, I some how managed to allow my kids to talk me into finally giving the LOBSTER flavor. All I can say is – has to be the first time in my entire life that I did not like something LOBSTER. Perhaps their are some that would enjoy it – but NOT me! So for me this last time a bust, but everyone else liked their flavor choices.Give it a try and let me know what you choose….and if you are daring enough to try the LOBSTER – what you think.

Liked this place for the irresistible smell of sweets and the gelato of course. My cousin and I had decided to have a treat after strolling along the vineyard for a couple hours. It was a warm August day, almost a year ago and it was definitely a treat. I had a small cup with was plenty, just enough to cool down for a bit. The heat out there wasn’t so bad compared to the DRY heat in Northern California. I would definitely come back again whenever I have the opportunity to do so. It’s nice that they’ve been open for a while, they’ve had history with this island. I always support smaller business.

Raves Redux…. From the Falmouth location (I’ve only been to the one on Oak Bluffs) of Ben & Bill’s:Just head due port when you enter the front door and treat yourself to one of the best ice creams in New England. There was a line when the other places were without, and now I remember why.I always have coffee ice cream when out, and only coffee ice cream, so I know coffee ice cream, trust me. Would I lie to you? This was dark smooth heavy on the caffeine coffee ice cream. The best part, for me at least ? The size of the portions! None of this cheap-o Longford’s seven bucks for a tiny dish, get the large size if you’re brave (more on this later) for SIX dollars, that’s right, only SIX dollars, and pig out.The girl behind the counter asked me if I was familiar with their sizing, and being a New Yawker, I said sure, the larger the better. She then proceeded to scoop – and scoop – and scoop – and scoop – and finally to scoop again. I will ask next year how many ounces, but since I couldn’t finish it — yup, I wimped out, I felt like I was on Man vs Food and Food won — it was close to a pint. And I’ve easily eaten a pint of ice cream, only not in one sitting.Where was I? Oh yeah, get thee to Ben and Bill’s on Martha’s Vineyard! The best ice cream, for – you listening, rip off ice cream places in New Yawk? – the best price, and you will be happy. I promise. Only — get the medium, if you’re hungry, or the small, if you want to take human bites.Ben and Bill’s, one request? Don’t turn into a New Yawk ice cream store before next year. Thanks! A Fan.
