Have not eaten at Lola’s but have visited for happy hour/cocktails. Great service, fun vibe! I actually enjoyed that it was a bit away from the crazy crowds and bar scene of OB. It was definitely a more refined ambiance and clientele.
I came into Lola’s with high expectations of the cheesy grits and was not disappointed. Whomever it was that made the cheesy grits tonight should be commended. Tonight’s test of the teams included the pan roasted salmon on top of potatoes varying times, and the evening was finished with a root beer float. Of course I had to celebrate national root beer float day. I would have given the restaurants in much higher score except that the food that came for my partner was rather salty. Also when a corrected dish was sent it looked dramatically different than someone else’s at the table at the same dish. Consistency from chef is paramount in my mind. The bartender, or perhaps the server was fairly inattentive because I drink it was ordered came after every one else’s drink came and had drank half of their drinks. Also Food came out at different times. Perhaps this was a problem with expediting or perhaps this was a problem with good service. In either case I did not feel good about leaving the automatic 20% gratuity for greater than six people. On a positive note the evening was wrapped up in Lola’s signature Dancehall at the rear of the property. That was a lot of fun and worth coming for.
