Do you have a salt shaker?. Went to the Hawthorn Hotel for a nice lunch. The place is lovely and the service was wonderful. A nice fire was in the fireplace, wonderful high backed chairs. The entire meal was as bland as an old shoe. Nothing had any salt, pepper or flavor. I seriously wanted to ask if they had a salt shaker in the back! A serious disappointment.

Salem Local Loves the Tavern. We live on the Common, and absolutely adore the Tavern at teh Hawthorne Hotel. It is our neighborhood bar, restaurant, pub — just the right kind of place to hang out with friends, especially on these cold rainy days. The fireplace is always burning, and the comfy chairs are just right. We love their burgers, and homemade soups. The specials on weeknights (I think Sunday, Monday Tuesday, but there might be more?) are so good and nicely priced. Can’t beat it.
Ambience. Love the fireplace, big comfy chairs, great value for food and service..casual dining..for lunch or dinner!!!!
