Well, wanted to love this restaurant because it is so close to home, but the food was just so-so and it took forever. There were a few brights spots; the molten lava chocolate cake was delightful, and the special allergy free dinner we ordered was perfect. Overall not a bad visit, but wanted it to be great especially for the price.

Don’t let the strip mall fool you- Tomatoes is a great spot to get some pretty decent Italian food here on Cape.This is close to our home, so we often nip over to grab dinner or have a drink and appetizers at the bar.The bar , which is a part of the restaurant, is lively and often packed so if you plan on grabbing a drink and want a seat, go early. We’ve had just about everything on the menu and our favoirte is the pork osso bucco- a meaty shank of well-simmered pork sitting on a bed of creamy risotto and a mushroom ragu.We also like the scallops portofino, the rack of lamb, the carbonara. The steaks are a good bet, too.Be warned, though, their drinks are mighty strong (that’s a definite plus in my book) and portions are generous.During the slower season, they run a movie special with Heritage Theaters, a walk across the parking lot for $20.00. The menu is limited but $20.00 a head for dinner and a movie, you can’t find a better deal on Cape.
