Cannot say enough good things about Riva. I’ve only ever sat in the bar area, but it is my favorite place on the south shore. Staff is wonderful and the food is amazing. Chef (and now owner) Mike Tondorf has done great things with the menu

Superior food. Riva has two restaurants: one pizza and one fine Italian. The italian is supurb….way past good. You will fine gourmet cooking and fine attentive service at a rational price. Run to this one.
Riva in Hull, Nantasket Beach. This is a fine gourmet pizza restaurant. You can dine in or take out. We decided to take out. First mistake. We ordered a chicken salad on lettuce and the chicken was dry with no dressing. We had an antipasto, it was not traditional. It had the mixed greens (didn’t like em) no anchovies were offered, no tuna was on top, two blobs of mozzerella cheese, and no hard cheeses, however, the Italian meats were fresh cut and very good. Didn’t care for the dressing much. The antipasto wasn’t as good as if it came from the Villa Rosa or old Roman Garden in Quincy Point. Now to the pizza, what they are known for. Ordered two slices, they were extra large. Very good cheese topping, almost no tomato sauce, the crust is cracker thin, and parts were burnt. I had to transport the pizza about 1/2 mile. by the time I got home, the crust was unedible. Reheated in the microwave for a few seconds and it made it better. The prices weren’t too bad, average. The wait staff was friendly, helpful, and they had a lot of folks working there for a small place. Next time, and there will be a next time, we will eat there, because I feel that the pizza has be eaten almost immediately. Over all, not disappointed.
