First of all, the menu here is COMPLETELY inaccurate. There is no food sold at this place (at least not last year and the few years before. This place is okay but is seriously falling apart. They used to have soft serve and tons of flavors but not really any more. The picnic tables are molding and falling apart and are usually so dirty that you wouldn’t want to sit there anyway. Plan on standing or takeout. The inside is dark and dingy and kind of questionable sanitation wise. The menus are an eye sore and make no sense at all. If you make the mistake of ordering soft serve you will get a LOT of attitude from the servers (I was rudely asked if I had even read the sign which was written in pencil and hanging from the other window).I guess I kept going back to this place despite these things because the ice cream (the flavors they still have) is decent but I think I’ll find a new place to frequent this summer.
Louie’s is a gem! The ice cream flavors are wonderful, creamy, and truly delicious. Portions are great, and the prices are lower than other ice cream purveyors. Louie’s is cash only, and there are a few picnic tables to sit and enjoy. The only drawback is the place sits near a somewhat busy intersection in Somerville, but it’s still an urban gem. Try the almond joy ice cream with strawberry topping! A little cup of happiness!
