Masala restaurant is located on the main street of Broadway in Somerville. I visited the place for the lunch buffet and was delighted to see the variety of Indian and nepalese cuisine options available. I tried almost all the dishes and can say this restaurant is one of the best tasting restaurants in Boston. Finding a good vegetable samosa in Boston is almost impossible and ending the linch with perfectly made Gulab jamun was an experience one shouldnt miss. You will just miss the level of spice.Taste-o-meter: 4/5
Guys, guys! Listen up! This is the best Indian food I’ve had in the Boston area! Yup!We came in on a Saturday night, and the $3 house margs got us feeling just right. It’s obviously not the most authentic thing to drink, but I’m not going to judge. Sometimes some cheap citrusy alcohol is just what you need to cut the spice of saucy Indian food.Ordered the lamb vindaloo (with spice between medium and hot) and the palak paneer (hot). The spice levels were on point (at times my non-Indian face calls for milder versions than I’d prefer) and the portions large (leftovers were very much enjoyed the following day). The veggie samosas had a great texture and flavor, and paired great with the sauces on the table. The prices are reasonable, and even more so if you buy the Yelp deal beforehand ($15 for $20) or use the 10% check-in offer! As an extra treat, complimentary bites of carrot cake were brought out at the end of dinner. A very tasty finishing touch. I will surely be back to savor more of your flavors, Masala!
