Big Mamou was recommended to us by a friend. We went on a busy Saturday night and had a short wait for a table for 2. The place is in a stripmall type setting and smallish but the food and staff make it a big experience. I’ve not had authentic Cajun food previously so I was a bit hesitant. I had the meat loaf and my girlfriend had the pork. Both were very good. I really like the tomato gravy she had on her meal. My meatloaf was the best I ever had, even better than my own. My rice had a jambalaya topping which I enjoyed as well. Portions were large so we couldn’t eat dessert unfortunately. The byob was not a problem and everyone else was suitably prepared. The prices were very inexpensive and a great value. Take cash. For the price of the food, don’t make them lose money to the credit card companies. Tip well. They all work very hard and the food is of very high quality. heydelhiblog.wordpress.com

Average Food Akward Service …. Average Food Akward ServiceFor being the #1 restaurant in Springfield I expected a great dinner. The restaurant is small so seating is close. They had 2 people servicing tables which was not enough. The food was just average…. The cheese bread for an app was ok. The pulled pork didn’t come close to other good BBQ restaurants I have visited. It was ok but not great. The pecan pie for desert was also ok.If you do got get as much corn bread as you can. This was the best part of the meal!!! Everything else wasn’t bad but was just average. For #1 I expected a lot more….

Many mamou trips. Have been eating here for years, seems that lately they are disappointing … Out of steak tips… No meat on a Friday night at 5:30… Really? What were they planning on serving the rest of the night much less the weekend? There are certain staples that need to be on hand, like a pizza place should have cheese, right? If you are allergic to shellfish, without meat (because they run out or don’t play nice with the meat purveyor)… Your dinner options grow smaller . Have always been a fan but their mojo seems to not work like in days gone by… Also the Springfield style smoke sauce was always a buy to go (at least a bottle or two) and they are out of that, even in the resturaunt.. Went there last night and they had it but it has changed, not worth buying tastes like watery franks hot sauce… Stick to the plan wayno! Hate to see it dwindle away

Awesome Food, Kinda Pricey. If you are ever in the downtown Springfield area, you have to go to Big Mamou’s! They the best serve authentic, flavorful Cajun/Soul Food in Springfield! However, the food isn’t cheap but once you taste their food, its definitely worth every cent!
