Food Enthusiasts Opinion Im pretty easy to please when it comes to food and can find enjoyment in a fast food joint or pleasure in a divine experience at a 5-star restaurant. But Tex-Mex and Mexican food are my comfort foods, and when these easy-to-prepare meals are served to me in the condition they were served at Casa de Nana, well, I just have to take the time to say something incredibly nasty about them. The appetizers We got the Grande Pa Pa Platter. What a waste of time. I couldnt tell the cream cheese poppers from the cheddar cheese poppers from the jalapeo poppers. And the dried out husks of potato skins with uh, maybe more sour cream would have made it more palatable. The quesadilla was prepackaged (yum) because these are so incredibly difficult and time-consuming to make, what with the folding and everything. And dont even get me started on the green glop that they were trying to pass off as guacamole. Robots could have prepared our meals. Heck, a vacuum cleaner could have prepared our meals. Why? Because the food is frozen-prepackaged, reheated, slapped on plates, and served. Thats right, folks. Aint no food preparation going on in the Casa de Nana kitchen. The dry Spanish rice had some disgusting red sauce mixed in it. One mouthful. Thats enough. The refried beans were sooo salty they were inedible (and I salt everything!). Im not sure what was inside my beef enchiladas, and I suren heck dont know what was poured on top of them, but what really floored me was the condiment served with my meal. Duck sauce. Ahyep. Duck sauce. I sat there staring at it, then slowly dipped my finger into it, tasted it, and duck sauce. I hate duck sauce. I especially hate duck sauce on enchiladas. We requested the house salsa because it is purported to be extremely hot and spicy. I suppose if your tongue was abraded and you had sores in your mouth you might find this salsa piquant, but we found it boring. But our waitress was top notch so, for her sake, we didnt complain or return our food, and we justly compensated her. She was friendly, attentive, aware of our needs, and professional. I hope she is working her way through college and in a few years has no memory of working at Casa de Nana. Bottom line: This is NOT a representation of Tex-Mex or Mexican food. Compost, perhaps, but not food.
