Vegan Nirvana. I moved to the Boston area a couple of months ago and was recently joined here by my daughter who happens to be vegan. She wanted to get out and suggested we go to dinner. Googled vegan restaurants and selected Red Lentil. We chose wisely. The restaurant doesn’t have the greatest decor or a what I’d consider to be a cozy ambiance, but it’s clean, well lit and pleasant enough. Staff was very friendly and accommodating (my daughter has a seven week old baby). Once we sat down and started going through the menu we were pleasantly surprised at the number of vegan options available. We started with the Belgian Sweet Potato Fries (they’re actually a side dish but we got them as an appetizer). Very generous portion and very tasty!I ordered the Shepherds Pie and my daughter got the Rustic Paella. Both were not only generously sized portions, but very reasonably priced. i was really struck by this due to a previous experience at a Matthew Kenney restaurant in Oklahoma City. Felt like I was at some snooty French restaurant – huge price, tiny servings. Just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean you have to leave the table hungry.Topped off our dinners with a Chocolate Banana Cheesecake which was also very good. This is definitely the best restaurant I’ve been to where I ordered vegan options. Well worth the drive. Will definitely go back.08 Aug, 2014Shepherd’s Pie*. Vegan version of a shepherds pie. Generous portion with an excellent presentation and fantastic flavor.
Fabulous!. We have eaten here two nights in a row. A wonderfully diverse menu filled with interesting vegan/vegetarian choices. From the soups and salads to the polenta appetizer, and including entrees and desserts, all the food has been outstanding. Our server the first night was struggling, to say the least, however did an adequate job. Tonight’s server was excellent. We will return here many times.
