Grotto might have one of the best romantic date tables in the city. The place is small so the table is obvious once you see it, front wall far corner.Other than that the food was hit and miss with miss winning by a nose.
Simply amazing food!!!A small eating joint near Boston Common. It was near to our hotel Omni Parker House and highly recommended by our office colleagues. We were a big group of 20 people and we almost filled the small place. It is little dark inside and the red coloured roof was making it more darker in the evening. The service was prompt and the food was delicious. It was a reasonable fixed menu and I opted forZuppa – garlic soup, black truffle, Parmesan, bread crumbsPesce – pan roasted halibut, fennel, asparagus, peas, fingerling, potatoes, tomatoes Budino – banana bread pudding, caramel ice cream, spiced walnuts The portions were more than enough and the quality of food made me overeat. An ideal place for a perfect dinner.
We stumbled upon this restaurant while searching Google. It’s a small little place in the Beacon Hill area. The food was excellent! Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was fantastic. I had the short rib gnocchi (excellent), and my wife had the duck (also fantastic). They had a prefix option for $37 which includes the entire menu. Great choice if your looking for a nice cozy, quiet, and romantic atmosphere.
After searching all over North End for a warm, Italian dining experience, we decided to avoid the tourist traps and find something real. Grotto was the perfect, unpretentious, off-the-beaten-path place for us. Our server, Brian, was very attentive and knowledgable. The food was spectacular: fairly priced, good-sized portions, and nicely presented with wonderful favors. Great job Grotto!
A hidden gem. It’s easy to miss this little gem near the state house, but Grotto is well worth seeking out. Their prix-fixe menu (3 courses for around $34) has many offerings and the portions are bigger than I expected. The food is wonderful here; everything seems to be prepared with great care and attention, and the wine list is well-rounded and interesting. Vegetarians have plenty to choose from, and the restaurant gets extra points for having servers that know exactly what is in each dish and can guide diners with special diets accordingly. The only downside to Grotto is that the dining room gets very warm. This is partly due to an older A/C unit, and partly because it’s a small space and the kitchen is close by. But not to worry – cool down with a selection of home made ice cream for dessert.
This restaurant was so effing amazing!!! I go out to eat for good food and a good bottle of something. Tonight we had a bottle of prosseco , chicken parm, beef tenderloin , and spagetti & meatballs …… Wow!!!! Absolutely everything was to die for! You can’t beat this 15 table / basement level dining even if you tried. Neighborhood atmosphere meets 5 star dining needs!!!
Had a great time. The Grotto is easy to miss, and tiny inside, but worth every penny. I really enjoyed the gnocchi with short ribs and the mussels were great too.Great value for a good price.
