A Step Up for the Area. I’m old enough to remember when the bars and restaurants clustered around the old Garden were uniformly terrible, dirty, unfriendly, loud and serving overpriced generic food and nasty industrial beers to sports fans and suburbanites too hyped up on their annual trip into the Big City to care. This place is a sure indicator that things are changing — a polished, well-run sports bar and lounge, spacious and clean, with excellent service (our blonde waitress was a real gem), a great selection of fairly interesting beers, and decent comfort food all made in-house. Don’t get here expecting a romantic dinner, since on our visit there was a very loud but surprisingly competent band which made conversation impossible, but definitely go here to enjoy cheeseburger sliders, crispy salty fries, amazing lobster mac & cheese, and tasty fish and chips which is what we did. Prices are reassuringly reasonable, in fact much lower than I expected, and the bartender mixes a world-class Old Fashioned.
