Food tastes like cigarettes. If you like dipping your meet in ash trays before eating it you will love this place! The food here is disgusting! They even screw up the fried pickles. Will never go here again. It’s a shame because West Roxbury could use a good BBQ restaurant.
Doesn’t Live Up To The Hype. Very disappointed.. food was awful, place was very cold and uninviting but still have it a try with all the good comments.. The coke slaw and beans were awful, the had no desserts for the day, said they weren’t selling any for the day, whatever that means.. I would not return nor would I recommend this place.. From reading the reviews and in I think this place is under new management and has take a a turn for the worst.. dont waste your time or money..they will not be in buisness much longer if they keep the quality of food nd service.. no bueno
I wish it were good. The pulled pork is dry, the brisket is really dry, as is the cornbread, they overcook the pork belly, the mac and cheese is sad, the collard greens are okay. The mashed potatoes are good. They have some fun appetizers that are pretty decent. oversharielle.com
I’ve had good BBQ before & this wasn’t it! Their food was very dry & bland. Their cornbread was at least a day old. We had the ribs & open pit sauce which was blood red & unsettling. The food was so chewy & dry! Definitely not worth the price!
West Roxbury BBQ. I went today and got a variety of food to sample.Meat Platter two; Pulled Pork, Smoked Chicken, Collard Greens and Mac and CheeseI also got two appetizers; Pork Belly Green Chile ‘donuts’ and the Spicy Wings with Lime Blue Cheese. The platter. The chicken was leg and thigh. It was moist & smokey. The skin was ‘burnt’, as one would expect with 4 hours of smoking, and crunchy – I like it. The pulled pork had good size pieces and was flavorful. I got the spicy sauce which complimented the smoke and the tang of vinegar cut it somewhat. The mac and cheese was excellent! it was creamy and the pasta wasn’t overcooked so had a little al dente bit to it. The collard greens…not sure if they used too much salt back, or the top came off the salt box, but they were close to inedible due to amount of salt in them. They had good piece of bacon, the greens themselves had the nice ‘bitter’ to them, but it was so salty I finished two drinks and still couldn’t make it thru them. The corn bread was solid, moist and flavorful. The spicy wings /w lime blue cheese. The wings had some nice smoke flavor to them, ‘spicy’ was not one of them though. They were juicy and had some nice char to them. The lime blue cheese…off the hook. This ended up being a dipping side for almost everything I had, I LOVED the lime blue cheese.Pork Belly Green Chile Donuts /w Garlic Aioli. I found these fascinating. I ate them all and still wasn’t sure if I liked them or not. I wouldn’t call them a donut as much as a fritter. They are dense. The outside if crispy from the fry, the inside is a mix of the dough, green Chile and pieces of pork. The aioli was good. The inside though, every bite was something different. One bite I got a nice juicy morsel of pork and Chile that complimented each other, the next I got a piece of dried up pork end that was hard to chew, the next was a lighter fluffy donut portion with some savory green Chile. I ended up dunking them into the lime blue cheese which compliment the ailoi and product well. Overall, I like it. The collard greens I won’t get again. I would probably skip the wings to. I will go back and try some of the other items at some point when I am in the neighborhood though.
