Gourmet Southern Cooking. This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. I really love food and enjoy sampling menus all over Boston, but this is the place that consistently gives me amazing mouth orgasms. Charlie Redd is a gentleman from the Carolinas who knows how to channel the raw satisfaction of southern cooking into gourmet works of art. I love the restaurant, its employees, its music, and the regulars who hang out there. If you want to know what Roslindale is about–or what Southern Hospitality looks like in the 21st century–come hang out and make some friends.

Best Menu in Rozz, Hit or Miss Food. I’ve always gotten great service at the bar. They’ll describe the specials really well, ask you if you want your dishes split, ask about sauce preferences thoroughly and even sometimes ask you about coursing.Apparently they roast a pig in the back every day and then have a special menu of pork dishes. The pulled pork sandwich was a little dry, bit the crispy pork belly with kale stem slaw and soy vinaigrette was great. The fries are okay, the spicy aioli basically tasted like mustard but with an aioli consistency, and the BBQ vinaigrette that came with out pulled pork sandwich was just some apple cider vinegar or something. oversharielle.com

Just Lovely.. Not only is Roslindale Village well worth seeking out, this marvelous and unpretentious restaurant in the heart of Roslindale Square is worth a special trip. We sat outside on the pretty patio and enjoyed our rye cocktails, seasoned with maraschino bitters, and munched on some ‘snacks — crunchy house made pickled fennel, carrot, cucumbers, and ramps, along with some corn fritters, while we perused the menu. It is compact – the perfect neighborhood bistro menu with several burger options, all from local grass fed beef ground on site, along with steak frites and some seafood choices too. I went with the grilled local bluefish, on a bed of sauteed rabe and surrounded by a luscious creamless creamed corn which was so addictive it should have been served in a syringe. Everything that we tried was flawless and the service was young and hip without being hipster — eye contact instead of eye rolling always scores big points! Would love to go back for the seafood mixed grill.

Great grub and deluxe libations. The black bass was mighty tasty. I suggest paring the rhubarb crisp with a monte carlo or your favorite rye cocktail.
