A real gem in Worcester fast friendly service–they even were accommodating of our children. An interesting farm to table local (New England) menu and a fine beer selection.
This place is seriously good. The atmosphere is low key, the staff pleads and knowledgeable, the food is fresh and local, and the beer selection inspired.
So first off, I LOVE that they don’t serve Bud Lite or any of that other swill. Keep it craft. The Mediterranean slate and poutine were excellent. Will definitely be back!
Food is awesome but it’s a little too dark in there and the music too loud. I would lighten up and tone down. Other than that it’s a good as anything in Boston!
Local farm to fork- doing it well. This is our favorite pre-show hangout, we always try to get into Worcester a few hours before show time to allow enough time for a stop at the Abbey. My current favorite: Marcona almonds freshly roasted and salted, housemade hummus and pita and whatever beer or ale is recommended- there are so many on tap and I have never gotten one that disappointed. The local cheese selection is expansive, you can order a few with breads, I really like the hummus though.
Definitely hit or miss. Generally the food is outstanding. During busy brunch hours, however, you might find the food slightly subpar. Brought the brother-in-law one weekend and was thoroughly embarrassed about the wait time and tiny portions. But when it’s good, it is really good. Best mac n cheese anywhere. Amazing beer selection. Despite its occasional flaws, still my favorite restaurant in Worcester.
Unusual Dishes and Beer. I stopped by with three friends because a chef in the area suggested this place. I love the dark wooden panel and overall set up of the bar. Started off with drinks and a very interesting drink selection from beers to cocktails. But don’t ask for Coca-Cola or Pepsi. They serve Worcester’s own Polar Beverages. While my less adventurous companions all ordered up the decadent mac and cheese, I went with the Mediterranean Slate. The slate was a perfect appetizer because of the variety on it. The downside to the slate was the olive oil the rolls off and on to the table. The restaurant was very clean. The waitress addressed the empty glasses quickly and we got a good explanation of what is available on draft. Just hard to see the beer list on the wall when you are sitting right under it.
