Kitschy, cheap hot dogs can be had anywhere though. I finally got here after literally years of anticipation- hearing how good the hot dogs are, and the chili sauce, and the atmosphere. Well, having grown up on actual Coney Island area hot dogs, I gotta say, George’s Coney Island may satisfy Worcester residents needing a cheap lunch, but it is by no means the real deal. The hot dogs themselves are okay, I would choose a Nathan’s or a Hebrew National over a Kayem’s frank anyday, but I appreciate that they keep it local. No sauerkraut- what the what? Wow, sauerkraut and sauted onions are, like, mandatory. Ok, next. The chili sauce- yuk. Salty and that is about it. Add some celery seed and more tomato paste, and lower the salt and it might be tasty. That being said; the atmosphere is really cool, and the prices are downright cheap. But if you want a really good hot dog, head South- you can get some good ones in Conn, and the best ones are in New York.
Good chilli dogs, super delicious pickles, also ordered baked beans they were not bad but to sweet for me my husband did liked them… I’ll go back it’s cheap and we had fun looking al the names in the walls
This place rocks. Great hotdogs.the interior and all the graffiti scratched into the woodwork is a sight to behold…I would have liked to seen it 40 yrs ago when i was born.definitely recommend this place over any other hotdog in the area.
So amazing, blast from the past, charming and cheap! Chili dogs are outstanding. And you HAVE to try their pickles!!!!!!!! Fast service.
Classic place. The dogs are fine, the place is just fantastic!
Nostalgic atmosphere. Small dogs on a steamed bun — you’ll want more than one or two. The chili could have been a little greasier for my taste but it was delicious just the same. The baked beans are a very, very hearty portion. Don’t pass on the pickles. One order is very sufficient for 3 people. The dills are crispy and full of the flavor of garlic. The place seems ot be full of regulars but we were made to feel welcome all the same.
