Tough Love. Okay. I know the service is not the best here. Inconsistent is probably the nicest thing I could say about the wait staff. But if we’re just talking about the food, then this is usually my first choice for breakfast. You always get more than enough to eat. And the prices are really good. No, this isn’t some pretentious breakfast place where the eggs are coddled before cracked. The coffee probably isn’t fair trade. And I’m going to guess the pancakes aren’t made from flour straight from their own mill. If you want the Whole Foods of breakfast, go to Cafe Zola. This is more like the Krogers. It’s honest, tasty fare that will fill you up. And to be honest, that’s all I really want from my breakfast.
Textbook Example of how NOT to run a restaurant–. We had heard good things about this place and gave it a try yesterday (before doing a little Father’s Day shopping–) fully prepared to stand in line to get in but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated immediately — we ordered– were given coffee– talked– refill– talked some more– another refill– the place was emptying– people around us (who came in later) ordered– ate and left– on the FOURTH refill we asked our waitress if something was wrong–for some unknown reason she told us our slip kept being moved to the bottom of the orders– and then said we should probably go someplace else because it would be an even longer wait for our order (which consisted of a burger, scrambled eggs, and eggs benedict– let me assure you– I have worked in the restaurant and bar business for many years, and fully understand the work involved serving a holiday/sunday morning crowd– there was nothing special or difficult about our order– we were not rude– nor did we smell bad or were we dressed funny– we were told we wouldnt have to pay for our coffee and that was it.Maybe we should have asked for a manager but we didn’t. We just left not believing what just happened– we’d just spent over an hour and bascically been told to find someplace else if we wanted to eat– at that point we were all hungry– disappointed and angry– decided to forgo our Ann Arbor shopping trip and headed North to shop and eat– this was the WORST restaurant experience I’ve ever had– (I understand how these things can happen– a visit from a manager or at least SOME kind of excuse/apologywould have helped)– I will only recommend this place to people I don’t much like– for the rest of the world: unless you’re a gambler pack a lunch, bring a book, or better yet find a McDonalds if you want to get something to eat before old age or death overtakes you. Maybe a better name for this place would be THE ROTTEN EGG.
Great breakfast menu – must try the Eggs Benedict and their yummy French toasts ! Very friendly staff (especially Charlene) and kid friendly (tables are big enough to bring I’m your stroller)
Avoid this restaurant for lunch. Whatever it is, maybe it’s a change of staff, but the waitress is always rude and very plainly unhappy to be there and the food isn’t as good as it is on weekend mornings.26 Aug, 2009The best breakfast food you will ever eat. Guaranteed. Almost everything is homemade. The place is packed in the morning so be prepared to wait. It’s well worth it.
Terrible customer service, waited for half an hour to be seated & a party of 10 walked in & was seated right away! When I asked the manager why, she was not helpful at all, just made excuses! How can you treat your customers like that & expect them to come back? Never again! I recommend you stay far away!
Tasty, kid friendly and quick. Would have been perfect if they served chocolate milk. Seriously, what kind of breakfast place does not serve chocolate milk???
Good place for a quick breakfast. Got to love the seasonal dcor.
