Wow. That was outstanding! My husband and I just had such a delicious meal from Cardamom! We had chicken momos and papadum for starters. The momos have such delicious flavor that they don’t even need the momo sauce, but the sauce is so good you can’t resist it! The Papadum is fresh and the sauces served with it are great as well. I had the Angaarey Shrimp, which is spiced and cooked in the tandoori oven. It was perfectly cooked and had wonderful flavor. It was served with the veg of the day that happened to be chick peas I ordered Prantha bread and dipped it in the chick peas. It was wonderful! My husband had Karahi Goat. It was the first time that either of us had goat. Based on that experience we won’t hesitate to have goat again. It was tender and flavorful, more mild than lamb. The sauce it was served in was amazing. We ended our meal with rice pudding, which was so good and cheesecake, which was also good but the flavor of the cardamom didn’t really come through to us. We felt that Cardamom was a wonderful find and are already planning to make future trips there!
Cardamom is known as one of the best desi restaurants in Ann Arbor, and for good reason! They offer a variety of food for all taste buds. They also have some South Indian dishes as well. I started out with a chai, which was okay (very strong on the ginger). For an appetizer, we had samosas, which were well seasoned and tasty. For my main dish, I had the Kerala shrimp curry, and my friend had the karahi chicken. It came with a mountain of rice, which we loaded up on. The karahi chicken was loaded with flavor, especially fresh ginger. The shrimp was a bit mild, but it still tasted of spices. The shrimp was cooked well, and overall I enjoyed the meal. Our server was great with checking in on us during our meal and helping us order. We definitely plan on coming back again!
Fantastic Indian food. I usually get the Malai Kofta, but the lunch Thali is really good too. Service can be a little on the slow side, but servers are always friendly. I make sure to come here every time I’m in Ann Arbor.
Great Indian food. Had a goat dish that was awesome. Spice was hot and perfect. Dahl was nice. They even had lion stout fro Sri Lanka. Definitely worth the trip

Cardamom. I looked forward to a new Indian food restaurant in Ann Arbor, so am sorry to say it disappointed. An accompanying cup of lentil soup was about 1/3 full and watery, and a salad the waitress had described as having tomato, onion, etc, had only a few pieces of limp lettuce and one chuck of cucumber. When I asked the waitress about it, she was dismissive and a little impudent. The chai was tepid and bland. Worst of all, the achar had hard, quarter-sized pieces of pit in it. For a new restaurant to make these mistakes speaks of poor management. Hope they can improve. This was a weekday lunch.
I love it. This is now the best traditional Indian food in Ann Arbor.
