In November 2015, I broke a tooth at Sushi Zen, that a for-en object was in my food, The owners did admit fault. The owner’s (Kim’s) filed a report with Farmers Insurance.. Lied, to the Livingston county health dept. they were tipped off from Livingston health dept. Sushi Zen, did a deep cleaning 1 day before the state went in to sushi Zen’s to hide their Illegal ways..I, also found out they have 12-20 Illegals working there and making food Illegally, that their from Mexico working there Illegal.. After, I called Home land security, The Kim’s have fired every last one putting them on the street, In the cold. Also the (Kim’s) houses these Illegals in a property that the Kim’s own/rent for the Illegals. (Harvesting)Sushi zen also has employees drinking alcohol Illegal, under age drinking..Sushi Zen, Pay’s No Federal or state taxes on the illegals employees. Which has been reported to the IRS.This is NOT only a very bad situation for me, but to all that eat there, Selling of drugs have been reported, people that are coming from other countries have shown that they will hurt Americans..Sushi Zen’s gross negligence, against there business practices should NOT go on.I have called, many Government agency’s, I, also will be calling the Papers. There are so many concerns at Sushi Zen, I, hope to help, others. The Kim’s, Making money, Not paying taxes, Hiring Illegals, Threats, from his Attorney, Farmers Insurance, Why, All due too Sushi Zen’s Illegal ways…
Has potential. Since changing the owner (yet again) two years ago, Miki has undergone some major plastic surgery. Gone are the traditional japanese walls, instead, the owner (Korean) places emphasis on Zen like ambien- greens everywhere, logs on the floor; simple dark furniture. In my opinion, there should also be simple greens on the table to complete the picture. The restaurant is quite, which is a huge plus. I find the menu too saturated and too busy to read. The sushi selection has duplicate of many different things (especially the non-fish ones). I had the yaki seafood udon- which was nice, except there were too many octupus/squid ring. The selection of beer/wine is very good. Desert selection again has too many duplicates- green tea ice cream is the main component of 3/5 of the desert entree. The staffs are friendly without being too pushy, which is a bonus. I think the menu needs some cleaning up, otherwise it is a great place for special occasions.
Worst food I’ve ever had. Terrible. I don’t know why people say its good.
I love the menu at Sushi Zen and Miki! The food at Sushi Zen in Brighton has always been fantastic and the owners have integrated their menu into the traditional favorites offered by Miki. One of the only places in Ann Arbor to get authentic ramen!! Awesome food and budget friendly prices. Should become a new campus favorite!
Oh, Miki, you are NOT so fine… in fact, you’re terrible.. If you want to eat at Miki, I recommend you don’t go on a busy night or busy lunch hour, or simply consider ordering take out (and then add 30-60 minutes onto the wait time they give you). Eating in the restaurant on a busy night, which sadly is most nights when you’re located in downtown Ann Arbor, means you may wait forever, and ever, and ever, which is what happened to us on our very first (and only) visit to Miki. Although their sushi menu is interesting, I wouldn’t know if they serve anything other than sushi at Miki, because we were never offered anything but the sushi menu, and it took about 20 minutes for the server to bring those after we were seated. About another 20 minutes later the server brought us the two beers we ordered and FINALLY took our order. After a ridiculous 1 hour wait, during which we saw our server only about once or twice and were completely ignored by all other restaurant staff, our sushi appeared. Now, had we ordered twenty rolls, I’d understand a one-hour wait, but we did not order nearly that many. We ordered only three rolls. The rolls were good, but after a nearly two hour wait and being ignored and neglected by our waiter and staff, , I don’t care if the food is good because I’m too angry to care. And we tried to get people’s attention and express our discontent in the wait. Had we been more assertive people, perhaps it would have been more effective to leave the restaurant screaming before the food arrived. Either way, in my opinion, the waiter should have offered to comp our two beers, offered us a free round, discounted our food, or simply offered a sincere apology, but we were never given any of those accommodations. There are better places for sushi in Ann Arbor. Godaiko is great with great service, Yotsuba, even on their super busy nights, offers comparable food with better service. So unless you want to wait forever for food, I suggest you get your sushi fix elsewhere. Miki has bad, bad service.
Well this is the best sushi place in ann arbor. Fish is so fresh and great taste. The presentation of each order is fantastic. I, as a sushi lover, would use less sauces on new age sushi rolls, so i usually ask to take them out, but overall, even a regular california is unmatchable. Btw, it is expensive if u eat those new age rolls, but regular rolls are not. So this place is not overpriced, its just that they offer really good and expensive stuff alomg with regulars
New owners (also own Sushi Zen in Brighton) are amazing! The sushi here is some of the best I’ve ever had! Big bonus- you can eat outside!! 🙂
